Rui Falhas was born in Lisbon in 1975. He is graduated in Computer Science from Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL) in 1998, and master in Computer Science and Engineering from Faculty of Science and Technology of the NOVA University of Lisbon in 2020.

 

He attended in 2009/2010 the Professional Photography Course from Oficina da Imagem, having obtained the sigil of APPI (Associação Portuguesa dos Profissionais da Imagem), from which is currently a Member. In 2011, completed the Postgraduate Course in Creative and Conceptual Projects, also from Oficina da Imagem.​

He began to practice photography in 2005 and since then he attends several photography courses and workshops. Actively participates in national and international photo competitions, having obtained in 2007 the 1st Prize in Photography Competition "Descobrir Telheiras" (“Discover Telheiras”), organised by the ART, in 2011 was winner of the contest "Mar e Costa" (“Sea and Coast”) organized by the magazine O Mundo da Fotografia Digital, and was finalist in several other contests. In 2021 he had a photography with an Honourable Mention in the Prix de la Photographie de Paris.

He has organized his first solo exhibition on the subject "Lisboa" (“Lisbon”) and has participated in several group exhibitions and books.

 

Have as main photographic interests the natural and urban landscape and abstract.
